The brain’s repository carried two things. The program — the engine, the agents, the scripts. And everything the program manages: the project cards, the state of the machines, the work in progress, the handoffs between sessions.

Myéline was born to separate them. The previous chapter separated what is shipped from what is your own. The heaviest part remained: the data itself.

The movement begins on September 30, before it even has its name. The content — the workshops, the publications — leaves the brain for a satellite of its own. One hundred and six files removed from the repository.

434825a8 — Merge pull request 'BRAIN-080 étape 2 — le contenu quitte le brain pour contenu/' (#452) from kernel/MY-202-etape-2-contenu into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘BRAIN-080 step 2 — the content leaves the brain for contenu/’ (#452) from kernel/MY-202-etape-2-contenu into dev/myeline”)

The next day, the concepts each join the destination they concern. Then the material of this very story moves: from the brain’s working folder to the Brain Story project’s folder.

e76205ad — Merge pull request 'BRAIN-080 étape 4 — Codex et la matière de brain-story' (#480) from todo/BRAIN-080-etape4-codex-story into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘BRAIN-080 step 4 — Codex and the brain-story material’ (#480) from todo/BRAIN-080-etape4-codex-story into dev/myeline”)

That is where it has lived since. That is where this chapter was looked for.

On the evening of October 3, a quarter of an hour after v2.7.0, Tetardtek names the work: « on a des satellites à créer : infrastructure, projets… qui sont de la data et pas du programme » (“we have satellites to create: infrastructure, projects… which are data and not program”). And he adds: « on doit aussi regarder s’il reste de la donnée dans le programme » (“we must also check whether any data remains in the program”).

8d1bf165 — Merge pull request 'MY-234 — les données hors du programme' (#658) from scribe/MY-234 into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-234 — the data out of the program’ (#658) from scribe/MY-234 into dev/myeline”)

The first move is an audit of the root, folder by folder. It finds dead things: a supervisor state, four claims from March.

a22ac256 — Merge pull request 'MY-234 — l'audit de la racine, les morts retirés' (#663) from scribe/MY-234-audit into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-234 — the audit of the root, the dead removed’ (#663) from scribe/MY-234-audit into dev/myeline”)

That same evening, D-day for projets/. The folder stops being tracked by the brain: 379 files removed from the index, nothing from the disk. It becomes a repository of its own — which already had, on the forge, its 486 commits.

e264817b — Merge pull request 'MY-234 — projets/ devient un satellite' (#670) from scribe/MY-234-projets-satellite into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-234 — projets/ becomes a satellite’ (#670) from scribe/MY-234-projets-satellite into dev/myeline”)

Less than forty minutes later, the infrastructure follows.

58633250 — Merge pull request 'MY-234 — infrastructure/ devient un satellite' (#672) from scribe/MY-234-infrastructure-satellite into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-234 — infrastructure/ becomes a satellite’ (#672) from scribe/MY-234-infrastructure-satellite into dev/myeline”)

On October 4, before dawn, a registry falls. The infrastructure one: frozen since March 17, partly false — the wrong host, the root access, deployments that had stopped. And helloWorld injected it at every start.

de090643 — Merge pull request 'MY-234 — le registre infra retiré, infra-scribe archivé' (#673) from scribe/MY-234-registre-infra into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-234 — the infra registry removed, infra-scribe archived’ (#673) from scribe/MY-234-registre-infra into dev/myeline”)

The day’s pattern is set. What leaves the brain is not only the data. It is also what held only by an instruction.

In the morning, workspace/ becomes a satellite in turn.

fb88c578 — Merge pull request 'MY-234 — workspace/ devient un satellite' (#679) from scribe/MY-234-workspace-satellite into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-234 — workspace/ becomes a satellite’ (#679) from scribe/MY-234-workspace-satellite into dev/myeline”)

Then the inventory of the metabolism layer. The doctrine announced it « toujours, en premier » (“always, first”), at every session close. The measurement says otherwise: 34 entries in its index, 30 of them in March. A health score filled zero times out of 66 claims. A decision that was never coded. And yet the boot read its README at every work or pilot session.

962ee5f7 — Merge pull request 'MY-234 — la couche metabolism retirée' (#694) from scribe/MY-234-metabolism-retire into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-234 — the metabolism layer removed’ (#694) from scribe/MY-234-metabolism-retire into dev/myeline”)

The decisions registry follows: six keys, a single commit, on March 17, never updated. Same pattern as the day before.

a33392bd — Merge pull request 'MY-234 — le registre des décisions retiré, decision-scribe archivé' (#701) from scribe/MY-234-registre-decisions into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-234 — the decisions registry removed, decision-scribe archived’ (#701) from scribe/MY-234-registre-decisions into dev/myeline”)

April’s focus, for its part, does not leave the repository. It leaves search: an indexed fragment could still serve April’s direction as if it were current.

3cf76460 — Merge pull request 'MY-234 — focus.md sort de l'index de recherche' (#696) from scribe/MY-234-focus-hors-index into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-234 — focus.md leaves the search index’ (#696) from scribe/MY-234-focus-hors-index into dev/myeline”)

In the early afternoon, the handoffs between sessions become a satellite, with their whole history. The extraction is run twice — at the rehearsal, then on D-day — and gives the same commit both times.

e907a3cd — Merge pull request 'MY-234 — handoffs/ devient un satellite' (#705) from MY-234-handoffs-satellite into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-234 — handoffs/ becomes a satellite’ (#705) from MY-234-handoffs-satellite into dev/myeline”)

And Tetardtek’s question — « pour intentions on doit regarder comment vit la couche » (“for intentions we must look at how the layer lives”) — gets its answer. Two systems said what was being worked on: the intentions, which had to be declared, and the cards. From now on, « en cours » (“in progress”) is no longer declared. It is computed: an open card that a recent PR carries.

1aa08d5b — Merge pull request 'MY-238 — le focus dit ce qui est en cours, calculé' (#712) from MY-238-fiches-en-cours into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-238 — the focus says what is in progress, computed’ (#712) from MY-238-fiches-en-cours into dev/myeline”)

88c4d8c6 — Merge pull request 'MY-238 — les intentions quittent le noyau' (#714) from MY-238-noyau into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-238 — the intentions leave the kernel’ (#714) from MY-238-noyau into dev/myeline”)

What remains is the file where everything begins. helloWorld, the agent that opens every session — the one from chapter 1.

The inventory counts its moves: 78. Fourteen done by a script. Four verifiable. Forty-five that nothing verifies. Thirteen dead. The file goes from 860 lines to 416.

2d035fa9 — Merge pull request 'MY-239 — helloWorld réécrit contre le code' (#718) from MY-239-menage into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-239 — helloWorld rewritten against the code’ (#718) from MY-239-menage into dev/myeline”)

What is mechanical moves into a script, brain briefing. helloWorld keeps the judgement.

4631a89f — Merge pull request 'MY-239 — brain briefing : le briefing calculé' (#719) from MY-239-briefing into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-239 — brain briefing: the computed briefing’ (#719) from MY-239-briefing into dev/myeline”)

Within the hour, a test session of the new boot notices a line: « brain : 1 fichier non commité » (“brain: 1 uncommitted file”), at every start. A measurement file, that the system itself lengthened every six hours. The PR that moves it says it in one sentence:

88092d45 — Merge pull request 'MY-234 — le poids du magasin quitte le dépôt du programme' (#720) from MY-234-poids-observatoire into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-234 — the store’s weight leaves the program repository’ (#720) from MY-234-poids-observatoire into dev/myeline”)

An alarm that always rings teaches you to stop reading it.

That test session is the one writing these lines. It was opening on Brain Story; at its first briefing, it noticed the file that kept ringing, and an agent still describing a trigger removed that very morning. Half an hour later, both were fixed.

Then the briefing stops depending on the model, which had to remember to run it. Tetardtek: « le hook SessionStart pour brain briefing » (“the SessionStart hook for brain briefing”). It now arrives before the first message.

a45fae6f — Merge pull request 'MY-239 — le briefing arrive par le hook SessionStart' (#724) from MY-239-hook-briefing into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-239 — the briefing arrives through the SessionStart hook’ (#724) from MY-239-hook-briefing into dev/myeline”)

At 5:20 p.m., the card closes.

19d0da5 — scribe: MY-234 close — les données hors du programme ; MY-242 ouverte, l'historique du brain (“scribe: MY-234 closed — the data out of the program; MY-242 opened, the brain’s history”)

The brain’s repository now tracks nothing but program. The projects, the infrastructure, the work, the handoffs each live in their own.

But the same card opens another one. An extraction copies the history, it does not erase it: every earlier commit still carries what left.

And in one of the day’s PRs, the one that removes two archive folders, a sentence says where those archives remain:

f47eff76 — Merge pull request 'MY-234 — teams/ et workflows/ sortent de l'arbre' (#698) from scribe/MY-234-teams-workflows into dev/myeline (“Merge pull request ‘MY-234 — teams/ and workflows/ leave the tree’ (#698) from scribe/MY-234-teams-workflows into dev/myeline”)

Git history keeps them, and that is where Brain Story draws its material.

In chapter 1, helloWorld taught the system to remember. Six months later, it is rewritten against what the system really does — and what held only by an instruction goes away.

The brain now keeps only what it can hold by itself. The rest has its home. And its longest memory, the one this story comes from, is the last thing it has left to put in order.
